Another micro-review here. This time it’s Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. This IPA has to be my favorite year round available IPA that is sold in the Los Angeles area. I got a pint of this liquid gold at Xlixe Pizzeria (pronounced like slice) in Little Tokyo.
the pour is a nice golden color with a good amount of persistent head. Aroma has a crisp hoppiness with a hint of hot peppers. It has a pretty light mouthful with a good amount of carbonation. It starts with a strong citrus flavor, with notes of grapefruit and tangerine, that moves to a nice grassy hop and finishes really clean with a hoppy aftertaste that last just the right amount of time. I LOVE THIS BEER. If you like IPAs you need to find this beer. It is available on draft, in 22oz bottles, and six packs.
