It’s that time of year again! Russian River Brewing Company has released its triple IPA, Pliny the Younger, and everyone wants to get a sampling of this fine golden nectar. If you are unfamiliar with Pliny the Younger, be sure to check out my write-up about 2012’s release and Dave’s review of Pliny the Elder, but in brief, it is widely considered one of the best beers in the world. (And for anyone who is wondering, the handsome fellow to the right is the actual Pliny the Younger sporting a lovely striped sweater and hat.) And for your convenience, Beer Guy LA has compiled a list of where, when, and how to score some Pliny.
Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach and Seal Beach
Beachwood is having its 3rd Annual “Pliny Fights Cancer Charity Raffle” for it’s allotment of Pliny the Younger. Just stop by either location before the 22nd of February to purchase your $5 raffle ticket and on the 24th they will draw 130 lucky winners. If you do happen to win, you will have until March 6th to redeem your ticket.
Russian River Week at Tustin Brewing Co in Tustin
Wednesday February 19th 2014
Tustin Brewing Co is taking the whole week of February 17th thru the 21st to celebrate Russian River, but the “main event” will be the Pliny The Younger tapping on Wednesday the 19th. Tickets will go on sale at 11am on the 19th and can be redeemed after 3pm for a 1/2 pint.
Verdugo Bar in Glassel Park
Thursday February 20th 6pm
At 6pm they will start selling tickets for a 6oz pour of Pliny The Younger (There will be about 300 tickets and only 1 ticket per person). The keg will be tapped at 8pm. In addition to Pliny The Younger, they’ll be tapping kegs of Pliny the Elder, Supplication, and other gems. This event usually attracts a good crowd, so don’t be surprised if a line starts forming before 6pm.

No details yet, but last year tickets were given out to the first 300 for the right to purchase a special Russian River flight consisting of Pliny The Younger, Pliny The Elder, Blind Pig IPA and Row 2 Hill 56.
Blue Palms Brewhouse

10oz for $20, which might seem extreme but it is for a good cause. All the proceeds above their actual costs will go to the the Keep-A-Breast Foundation.
Mohawk Bend in Silver Lake

For those who like their beer on the earlier side, Mohawk Bend will be opening at 9:30am in order to distribute 280 tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis which will entitle the ticket-holder to one 6-ounce pour for $6.50. The beer will start pouring at 11am, which will give you plenty of time to have brunch.
Tony’s Darts Away in Burbank
Tuesday February 25th 3pm
Tony’s Darts Away will be tapping their keg of Pliny The Younger during their Tuesday at Tony’s weekly event. They will be selling tickets starting at 3pm and tapping the keg at 5pm. There are two options for tickets: two tickets and one special edition “I Got Younger at Tony’s Darts Away” logo glass for $17 and two tickets and two special edition “I Got Younger at Tony’s Darts Away” logo glasses for $20. One ticket gets you a 6oz pour.
Surly Goat in West Hollywood

Feel free to line up on Santa Monica Blvd for a chance to get some Pliny. They’ll also be pouring Pliny the Elder, Blind Pig, Row 2, Hill 56, Damnation, Temptation, and Consecration. Beer Passport Perks: 60+ stamps = 1 hour early, 40+ stamps = 1/2 hour early, 25+ stamps = 15mins early. Here’s the official line up.
