Bonus round live blog! Next up is the Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin.
—————–
Velvet Merkin is an oak barrel aged version of Firestone Walker’s Velvet Merlin. This beer comes in at 8.6% ABV. The barrel aging definitely brings a more intense set of flavors compared to Merlin.
The pour has a decent head with a slightly off white color. The aroma has a strong oat smell with notes of vanilla and coconut. Thick start with a strong chocolate malt that moves to a sweet dark cherry and a malty bourbon finish.
—————–
This is a great oatmeal stout. Compared to the Velvet Merlin, I would say it definitely has a strong bourbon flavor that is not in the Merlin that gives it a richer flavor.

If your looking to try this beer head on down to Far Bar very soon, but you will also be able to find this amazing beer at Library Alehouse in Santa Monica on March 14th at their Firestone XV release party.
